March 2020 saw Western Europe, the US, and much of the rest of the world react to a global pandemic – a novel coronavirus called COVID-19 swept the globe after starting in China in January 2020. As the attempts to contain the pandemic, and manage cases across nations, many countries, cities, counties, and states imposed self-isolations and self-quarantines – asking, and ordering, people to stay home to prevent them for catching, and/or spreading the virus. Every event from sports to cinema, theater to music and concerts was postponed or canceled – the Olympics, football, Broadway, Snake Oil & Harmony Tour, motor racing, NBA etc. Schools were closed. Workplaces were closed and many businesses (including mine) laid off hundreds of thousands of workers. As I write this, the US and UK are in the early stages of this self-isolation.
And this makes for an interesting reason to have a Dan Reed solo album. Except it’s not really an official album of any kind. After postponing the Snake Oil & Harmony tour, Dan Reed took to his Facebook starting on March 21st 2020, and played acoustic versions of his solo songs and DRN songs, taking requests and ideas.
So, this ‘album’, is basically a list of the songs played during this unprecedented time period that we are living through right now.

Thank you for all the love and positive thoughts about the last musical video of ‘Let it Go’ posted on Saturday 🙂 I’ve decided to post a new vid every couple days or so in light of the world hibernating for good reason and bring some live performances to you. I had a request for my song ‘Candlelight’ so here it is. Coming up in a couple days fulfilling the requests for the DRN track ‘Halfway Round the World’ and a solo track ‘Indestructible’ after that. Will try to continue on this path until the lockdown is over, so requests are most welcome and wishing everyone a healing time at home with your loved ones or in solitude ❤

Episode 3 of ‘Musical Vibrations for Home Hibernations’. An ancient DRN track called ‘Halfway Round The World’ requested by our good friend David Ungar. This is for you, brother, and for all those who are currently separated from their loved ones by the global shutdown. This song was written in 1987 before I had ever crossed an ocean. The irony is I now have a family on the other side of the planet from our hometown of Portland, Oregon 🙂

Mr. Thomas Turling and our friends at Musik Meyer in Germany have donated this beautiful Seafarer Parlor Acoustic guitar made by Hagstrom Guitars to help raise money for those affected by the Corona Virus. Thank you very much to all those who are interested in bidding on this instrument and helping those in need. I’ve picked a song which I thought would let this guitar sing… a song entitled ‘Red Red Rose’, composed in 1794 by the famous poet and songwriter Mr. Robert Burns from Scotland. My love and appreciation got Tom Russell and Lucy Macdonald for turning me on to poet Robert Burns and to this beautiful song, and thank you all for listening. Here’s the next ‘Musical Vibrations for Home Hibernations’, one of my favorite songs by Mr. John Lennon entitled ‘Working Class Hero’ performed with the stellar Nathan Bergman from the band ‘Lionize’ and a song whose lyrics mean as much today as they did back in the day. Nathan contacted me a couple weeks back with the idea of singing this song together and immediately agreed to make this happen. Thank you, my friend… an honor to sing this track with you. This is dedicated to all the working class folks currently tending to our hospitals, fire and police departments, grocery stores, sanitation services, and all the unsung heroes working hard during this global crisis.
